Follow our recipe for a natural alternative to play slime

Messy play gives children the opportunity to experience a wide range of sensory experiences. Messy play solutions such as Finger-paint, Slime and Gloop supports children to develop hand-eye coordination and also helps them learn about different textures and materials.

A soothing activity which is great to join in with your children! Sing songs while playing, encourage experimentation and ask questions! I.e. What colours can you see, is it smooth or slippery, cool or warm to touch?

Lets get started!

You will need:

  • 2 heaped tbsp of Psyllium husk (available from Bin Inn)
  • 250ml of water
  • 1 drop of food colouring
  • Glitter
  • Microwave proof bowl
  • Mixing spoon

Combine psyllium husk, water and food colouring in a microwave safe bowl. Microwave on high for 2 minutes. Remove from microwave and stir, microwave on high for another 1-2 minutes until it all starts to come together.

Allow to cool (this may take a while!) and then enjoy! This is great for playing just with fingers and a flat surface.

We would love if you would share your creations with us on your local Kids at Home facebook page!
