Kids at Home's 'Green' October

  • To prepare the project you will need to start by tearing strips of newspaper about 2.5cm wide, and blow up and tie a round balloon.
  • Next make up a bowl of water-flour mixture (1 part flour for two parts water) or alternatively you can use PVA glue.
  • Apply papier-mache to the balloon by dipping strips of newspaper into the mixture, wiping off the excess and wrapping the strips around the surface of the balloon. Repeat this until there are three layers and then leave to dry overnight.
  • Paint the entire surface of your globe with a layer of blue paint. Then cut and stick your continents.
  • Nb. A continents cut out sheet is available to download at the bottom of this page.

Ta-Da!! Do you have any stories or activities that this could be a great resource for?
