Kids Day Out - A trip to the SPCA!
Kids at Home Wellington
Kids at Home Wellington recently visited the Wellington SPCA working around children's interests and our environmental theme.
In the weeks prior to our visit Children, Educators, Nannies and Visiting Teachers spent time at playgroups and, for some of the children, at home also, making toys for animals including tug ropes (which were strips of material that had been platted) and cat chase toys made out of fanned pieces of paper and tied with a string.
Our team also collected donations of blankets and food.
Upon arrival at the SPCA our group was taken in via their store room where we were able to leave our donated gifts for the animals. Before going on to a classroom where the wonderful staff discussed about how to care for animals, we were fortunate to have two happy guinea pigs and a rabbit that the children were able to pat, before moving in to the dog room where we were able to meet some puppies! A number of the children also gave a gold coin donation before we headed home- What a lovely day, enjoyed by children and adults alike!
