Little Ladybugs Learning Centre/Playgroup

Little Ladybugs Learning Centre was opened in October 2010.

Custom-renovated to suit our needs, Little Ladybugs was set up to allow local families and children the opportunity to take participate in early childhood education by taking advantage of the 20 Hours ECE that is made available to all three and four-year-olds in New Zealand.

We are open from 12 noon to 5.00pm, Monday to Thursday (ie 20 Hours.)  Children receive quality care and early childhood education in a stimulating and nurturing environment.  They are also given a healthy and nutritious lunch and afternoon tea.

Provided children are not receiving 20 Hours ECE at another early childhood service, the Little Ladybugs service is free of charge.

Kids at Home Play and music group venue

Little Ladybirds Learning Centre also functions as our venue for the Kids at Home play and music groups. Having our own venue is unique to Kids at Home and we believe it gives us quite an advantage over other homebased services in that we have a vast array of resources which are permanently set up and available to the children and educators not only on the mornings that we run our groups, but on the other mornings as well.

See below for a quick "tour" of our centre.

Our programme planning, portfolios and parent information area.

One of the busy inside areas - where children can dress up, create, make a mess

and generally learn in a stimulating and nurturing environment.

Another inside area - lots of very creative role play goes on here!

The sleep room.

The children's toilet area - complete with ladybug toilets!

The nature area.

Our trademark "ladybugs" sitting on the printer!

The quiet area - although I've yet to see it quiet!

This is where the children read, do puzzles etc.

The sandpit area.

Part of the outdoor play area.

There are all sorts of little friends in our garden!

A large portion of our garden is edible, meaning that children can grow and eat their own

food.  This teaches them where their food actually comes from and helps them learn

about sustainability.
