Matua, Tauranga, Bay of Plenty
My name is Deonne, I am married to the wonderful Keith and we have two girls Marley and Dee. We also have a dog called Lola who loves kiddies.
I have been working with children in home-based care for over nine years now and it is the most rewarding job I have ever had! I currently hold my First Aid certificate, and I also have centre based experience from when I lived in Scotland.
During my time as a home-based carer I have looked after many children including siblings. My care children become a part of my extended family, and I am welcomed into theirs in the same respect.
As an Educator I love to help the children learn life skills, such as socialisation. Creating activities around their individual interests is a special part of my role, I find that my care children love to learn outside as much as inside learning. We venture outside reguarly and engage in nature based activities! Community based excursions such as Kids at Home playgroups and events also play a large part in our weekly routine.
The best part about my job is watching little ones group and learn new things every single day!
