Hi, my name is Sandra and I am a Home-based Educator with Kids at Home Waikato. I have been working within the home-based childcare industry for over 15 years, I am proud to say I provide quality education and care. I provide a warm, caring, smoke-free environment where children and their families have a sense of belonging; a feeling of home-away-from-home.

Our home is a safe, caring environment with plenty of opportunity for fun, positive encouragement and stimulating learning through play. We attend weekly playgroups, music group and a Kids Day Out event each term with Kids at Home. Outside of these groups we often socialise with other Educators  at local parks weather permitting. Every child receives plenty of one-on-one attention in our small group setting, as well as enjoying the benefits of attending our larger weekly playgroup activities.

Our home has a fully fenced outdoor play area, as well as inside play areas with quality resources. The children and I have lots of fun together doing face painting, baking, art and craft activities, movement through music, dress-up and dancing activities. Our activities are guided by the childrens individual learning needs and interests.

If you choose to join our home-based family, your child will receive the same level of care and nurturing that I gave my own children growing up. Your child will be well loved and treated with respect at all times.

Thank you for taking the time to read my profile and I look forward to meeting with you and welcoming you and your family into my home.

'As a parent I feel that finding care for your child is one of the first most important decisions a parent has to make. Sandra cares and teaches with a wonderful moral and value base, that works well for my children in this big scary world. My first child was in Sandra's care when he turned one and the second was close to the same age. I have been with Sandra for 7 years now and she never ceases to amaze me, with her patience and love she has for each child in her care. Your child will feel safe and secure with a sense of belonging in the loving environment that Sandra creates by treating each child as if they were her own and catering to all of their individual requirements with consistency, love and forever encouraging each child to reach their full potential, which is a never ending journey. Many times I had a battle trying to get them in the car to come home!! Sandra makes herself a very important person in the development for both of my children and all the others I have seen in Sandra's care. They really are a part of her family. The true advantage of home-based childcare, the kids feel like Sandra's family is their family. The kids inherit Grandma and Grandad as well as other family figures. Sandra has an individual little birthday party for each child and makes them feel really important with a present and all of the trimmings. She truly wants every child to know they are special and has the ability for helping your little treasure to grow into a confident little person who is ready for the next steps in their lives. The children in care all have an age appropriate routine and are exposed to about 30 other children most days a Sandra takes her children to playgroup, music group etc where my children have made many friends that are with other Educators. They have been exposed to animals of all kinds, safety groups with dogs, fire brigade etc. If there is an opportunity for new things to be seen or experienced, with Sandra as your Educator your child will be there with bells on. At the end of your child's time with Sanra, when they are five and going to school, they would have learnt to be responsibile for their belongings, have an idea on good eating practices and habits, they will know what manners are and have been learning to write their name, sight words for beginning readers, basic mathematics, exposed to basic Maori, current world events, geography, cooking... the list is endless and you will be blown away at the knowledge and vocabulary that your child comes out with, and they will definitely be 'school ready'. Sandra is a true blessing for my children and I, she keeps me updated daily and works on things with me, she has a massive array of knowledge of which I am fortunate enough to gain access, and implement when I am out of tools. She is very arty and the face painting is amazing. The art work is incredible and my children are so proud of their regular masterpieces. Her profile books are out of this world and my children get to keep them for years to come. If you have the opportunity, your child definitely deserves to be in Sandra's care.' - R. Schimanski

'I found finding a caregiver/childcare centre the most heart renching experience. Giving my young child to a stranger. Lucky for us we found Sandra.  As soon as I met Sandra I had that feeling that everything would work out great. Sandra is the most fantastic carer we could have wished for. Sandra and her sons have accepted our children into their family, Sandra's parents 'Grandma and Grandad' are wonderful to them also. Having such a wonderful family to drop our children off to each morning makes our lives so easy!' - D + L Mills

'Over the three years I have known Sandra I have always felt welcomes into her home. The interaction that she has had with my son has always been more than 'just a job'. She takes exceptional care and attention in her role as an Educator. Over the years my son has grown immensely, not only physically but emotionally/mentally as well. When he started care he was a shy boy that did not communicate very well with others. Sandra has helped bring him out of his shell and as a result he is very well rounded. The opportunities that have been made available to my son have been amazing. Sandra has taken him to many of the programmes available for young children like gym groups, play groups and music groups. One of the things that I appreciate the most about Sandra is the time and effort that Sandra puts into the parent folders that I get to see at the end of a term. It is a chance for me to see photos and read stories about the things that he has been doing whilst in care. And as a working mother, I feel like I don't miss out on seeing his development by seeing these folders! I will cherish these books for years to come! Sandra has beocmine more of a friend than my son's carer and I would definitely recommend her any of my friends that are thinking of putting their children into an ECE environment' - J.Bulloch
