Hi, my name is Kerrianne and I am a qualified Early Childhood Teacher. I recently began working as a Home-based Educator with Kids at Home after finishing maternity leave with my son - this is the best of both worlds!
I am a very nurturing individual by nature and love watching children explore, investigate and grow, all while having fun! I believe strong trusting relationships with parents and children are the key to learning and developing a sense of belonging.
As a teacher I recognise that some routine has its benefits for children social and communication skills. I enjoy short mat times (story time) where we share interactive series and also have music and movement sessions. Messy play is also encourages, this enables the children to explore textures, smells and tastes and has many educational benefits. Arts and crafts during care time encourages creativity and curiosity. And lastly dramatic play, where I encourage the children to use their imaginations, dress up and pretend play! - fun for all ages!
My family home is large and fully fenced. Our back section is also gated off from the front so we are fortunate to have two separate play areas! Our yard has lots of beautiful garden beds to explore and also a large Maple tree for shade when playing outdoors.
Spontenous excursions are a wonderful aspect of home-based childcare, I look forward to taking the children to socialise with other Educators and care children at playgroups and go on short walks.
