As parents of twins ourselves ... we know that having twins, triplets or quads means a huge lifestyle change, and in most cases extra help is necessary to make this situation as smooth and stress-free as possible. Kids at Home has a vast wealth of knowledge regarding multiples. Our Director, Paula, has twins (Olivia and Jessica) herself and that is one of the reasons she started Kids at Home nine years ago - she couldn't find a service that met her requirements; so Kids at Home was born! Over those nine years we have amassed a great deal of experience in assisting with multiples, both financially and through the advisory services of our highly-qualified Visiting Teachers and the services of our nannies. ENTITLEMENTS If you join Kids at Home you are able to increase these hours by using our Kids at Home Resource Grants and adding the WINZ childcare subsidy (for those that are eligible) can make your free childcare last even longer. Multiple Birth/Home Help SubsidyThis subsidy is available to all families who have twins and an older child under the age of five (sadly not the other way around), and families with triplets. a) Families with twins and an older child receive 240 HOURS ($3,410.40) Home Help free from WINZ, which must be used before the twins' 1st birthday.
b) Families with triplets receive 1560 HOURS ($22,167.40) Home Help free from WINZ, which must be used before the triplets 2nd birthday. The current Multiple Birth hourly rate is based on $14.77 per hour (this includes holiday pay).
The Multiple Birth/Home Help Subsidy is not income-tested and so anyone who has an older child and twins or triplets qualifies.
Kids at Home holds a supply of application forms for this subsidy in the office and can send a copy out to families as requested. Alternatively, forms will be available from your local WINZ office. Note: Not all WINZ offices deal with this subsidy frequently, so it can sometimes be easier for us to help you in this process.
When the Kids at Home Resource Grant (click here for details) is added to the Multiple Birth and/or childcare subsidy this means that the nanny hours can be extended to almost double.
Should the family also be eligible for the WINZ Childcare Subsidy this would increase the weeks of free care, as this money is added into the above amounts.
In addition to the above, should the twins older sibling be aged between three and five that child would be eligible for the Governments 20 HOURS ECE which Kids at Home have opted in to. This effectively could mean a further $81.00 credit each week off the above calculations, extending your multiple birth hours even further again. Kids at Home offers the best rates in town - contact our office on 0800 543 728 to find out all about them!
