Kia Ora. My name is Maree and I have been a Home-based Educator since 1998. I have 3 children of my own, 1 teenager and 2 adult children. I provide a welcoming, nurturing home away from home environment for the children in my care and I value the relationships that I have with them, and with their families.
I live down a quiet cul de sac with a park next door to me. I have good-sized indoor and outdoor spaces with lots of toys, books, and puzzles to keep the children busy and interested in learning. I believe in children learning through play-based activities that build upon their interests and natural curiosity to encourage and support meaningful learning. I encourage an interest in Papatūānuku (Mother Earth) and all her wonders as I feel that it is important for children to have a connection with the natural world around us.
Some of our regular activities include art-based activities and baking and we attend a music and movement group and the Kids At Home gym sessions regularly. We also join other Educators on playdates, visits to local parks, and nature walk, encouraging friendships to develop within the wider Kids At Home family.
